Overview
- Thirteen emails sent between November 2024 and February 2025 demanded $23 million and threatened Glenunga International High School and major events including the Adelaide Fringe and AFL Gather Round.
- The sender used the alias “Brian Cole” and is believed to have accessed a shared computer most nights after 9pm from November 19, 2024 to May 13, 2025, with Steam and the game Black Myth: Wukong installed.
- Investigators released images featuring a spider worked into the school logo, the logo made from severed spider legs, and pantry items with a handwritten note that may be recognized by the community.
- Police highlighted recurring markers such as “dont” without an apostrophe, “Email” capitalized, the misspelling “Clemydia,” and phrases including “auspicious,” “high committee,” “steal the souls,” and “I have spells which are just for the hero.”
- An 18-year-old charged in May later had all charges withdrawn, there have been no recent threats, and police briefed staff and students as they urge information via Crime Stoppers.
