RZD Launches Refitted Red Arrow With Two-Meter Berths and Higher-Capacity Cars

The first train fitted with the new wider, longer coupe coaches sets the template for a 2026 expansion toward Anapa and Adler.

Overview

  • The revamped Red Arrow was presented at St. Petersburg’s Moskovsky Station and departed on its first eight-hour run to Moscow.
  • New T-gauge cars are 28 cm wider and 73 cm longer, which increases berth width and corridor space.
  • Sleeper berths now measure two meters, and each coupe coach accommodates 40 passengers instead of the standard 36.
  • Amenities include power outlets in every compartment, individual tables on upper berths, personal safes, and temperature control from 20°C to 26°C.
  • Family and accessibility upgrades add a wider lower bunk in the first compartment for traveling with children, a separate shower room, and two dedicated cabins for passengers with reduced mobility in the staff car.
