Overview
- Ryanair, which announced the move Sunday, will close its seven-aircraft base at Berlin Brandenburg Airport on 24 October 2026.
- Winter flying to and from Berlin will be cut by about 50%, with the airline projecting traffic to drop from 4.5 million passengers to 2.2 million in 2027.
- More than two million seats per year will be removed, and the seven aircraft will move to lower-cost bases in Sweden, Slovakia, Albania and Italy.
- Ryanair will keep serving Berlin using aircraft based outside Germany, with links to London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh expected to be reduced.
- The company cites a recent 10% rise in Berlin airport fees and Germany's aviation tax, and Berlin-based pilots and cabin crew have been notified as staff consultations begin.
