Overview
- Ryanair’s final Stansted departure at 21:30 on January 4 ended Peinador’s scheduled international service, making Vigo the only Galician airport without foreign links.
- The airport now offers five domestic routes: Barcelona (Vueling), Madrid (Iberia, Air Nostrum and Air Europa), Tenerife Norte (Binter), Gran Canaria (Binter) and Palma de Mallorca (Air Nostrum).
- Mayor Abel Caballero proposed sharing the cost of a London route among the city, the Xunta and the provincial council, and said he has airline offers on the table without naming carriers.
- Ryanair’s pullback followed disputes over Aena fee increases and two city fines totaling more than €67,000 for breaches of the London contract and changes to agreed tourism promotion, according to the council.
- Peinador surpassed one million passengers in 2025 largely through Imserso travel, while Aena has identified 11 potential airlines to boost activity and tour operators plan occasional charters, including two Egypt flights in October.
