Ryan Roslansky to Leave Microsoft at End of 2026

He cited family ties and a refusal to relocate to Redmond full time, and Microsoft is moving Office and Teams into its Copilot, Agents, and Platform unit.

Overview

  • Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced Roslansky’s departure in an internal memo on Thursday, with Roslansky remaining at the company through the end of 2026.
  • Roslansky spent nearly 18 years at LinkedIn and Microsoft, served as LinkedIn CEO from 2020, and helped grow LinkedIn membership from about 700 million to 1.3 billion.
  • Roslansky wrote that leading the next phase would require being in Redmond “full time, every day,” and he declined to relocate because his family lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • As part of the shift, Microsoft is moving the teams that run Office and Teams to Charles Lamanna inside the Copilot, Agents, and Platform (CAP) organization and reassigning other reporting lines such as Jon Friedman to Jacob Andreou.
  • His exit comes during a wider senior leadership reshuffle that includes recent changes involving Peter Lee, Phil Spencer, and Rajesh Jha and signals Microsoft’s push to center productivity around its Copilot AI strategy.
