Rust Update Common Ground Adds Rentable Apartments, Player Shops and Clans

The July update changes how players live and trade by adding daily-rent housing, purchasable market stalls and group management tools that raise both economic opportunity and theft risk.

Overview

  • Facepunch released the Common Ground update on Thursday, and the new Apartment Complex, rentable shops, Clan system and Softcore adjustments are live for players to test.
  • The Apartment Complex lets players rent rooms across tiers that grant perks like extra storage and furnaces but require daily scrap payments or face eviction and seizure of possessions.
  • A hidden master key can open any occupied room for five minutes and also works on shops, creating new theft and burglary incentives inside the monument.
  • The marketplace offers rentable shop stalls that require upfront scrap and hourly fees, allow item listings and names, and can be taken over or outbid by other players at rising scrap multipliers.
  • Facepunch also added Clan management at Clan Tables, Softcore changes that double basic resource yields and confine raids to 6–9pm server time, plus animation, wallpaper and other quality-of-life fixes that will reshape early-wipe pacing and player economies.
