Russia Sets 2030 Goal for Half of Airline Fleet to Be Domestically Built

Government documents reviewed by RIA Novosti outline interim milestones and name the aircraft slated to lead the transition.

Overview

  • Domestic aircraft currently account for about 19% of Russian carriers’ fleets, with a target of 30% by 2028 and 50% by 2030.
  • The plan also raises targets for unmanned aerial systems, moving from roughly 43% of the market now to over 50% by 2028 and above 70% by 2030.
  • The future fleet is expected to center on the SSJ-New, MC-21-310, Il-114-300, Tu-214 and Il-96-300 models.
  • The targets formalize a broader push to boost domestic aerospace output following a January 2024 pledge to build more than 600 fully Russian airliners over six years.
  • RIA Novosti reports the figures and model lineup based on government documents setting these goals.
