Overview
- Russia said Ukraine sent roughly 600 drones overnight Sunday toward Moscow and other areas in what officials called the biggest attack on the capital in more than a year.
- The Defence Ministry reported shooting down 556 drones across 14 regions, in Crimea, and over the Black and Azov seas, with more than 80 intercepted near the capital.
- Regional authorities reported at least four deaths, including three in the Moscow region and one in Belgorod, and said 12 people were injured near a Moscow oil refinery as homes and infrastructure were damaged.
- President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the operation and said targeting Russian military and energy sites was justified after a Russian barrage that Kyiv said killed 24 people in the capital days earlier.
- Following Sunday’s drone wave, Russia struck Odessa and Dnipro on Monday with drones and missiles that wounded civilians and damaged residential blocks, signaling a continued cycle of retaliatory strikes with talks stalled.
