Overview
- The assault began Friday evening and continued overnight into Saturday with Ukrainian forces reporting strikes from six Iskander-M ballistic missiles, S-400-launched missiles and roughly 151 strike drones of multiple types.
- The attacks caused new civilian deaths and injuries, including three people killed in Puhovka in Kyiv region (a three-year-old among the dead), dozens wounded in Sumy and multiple fatalities and damage across Dnipropetrovsk and Kherson regions.
- Ukrainian air defenses said they intercepted large numbers of drones and missiles while the Russian defence ministry reported shooting down hundreds of Ukrainian drones and damage from falling debris inside Russia.
- Regional police and prosecutors in Sumy, Kherson and other affected areas have opened pre-trial probes under Article 438 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code to document possible war crimes at strike sites.
- The scale and variety of munitions — ballistic and air-defense missiles, guided aerial bombs and mass UAV swarms — are deepening strain on Ukraine’s air-defense resources and raising new risks to logistics, energy and food-processing infrastructure.
