Overview
- Producers announced Aug. 26, 2026 that Grint will begin performances Feb. 2, 2027 in a strictly limited 17-week run at Broadway’s Lyric Theatre through May 30, 2027.
- The engagement was described by Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender as linking the film series to the play’s themes and it will not overlap with Tom Felton’s extended run, which ends Jan. 3, 2027.
- Fans can register for first-access tickets through Aug. 31 with a presale on Sept. 1 and general on-sale on Sept. 2, according to the show’s official site.
- Grint originated Ron in the eight films from 2001–2011 and this marks his first time playing the character onstage, a return that has prompted renewed attention to his past public comments about J.K. Rowling and transgender issues.
- Producers are following a pattern that boosted box office when original cast member Tom Felton joined the show, and Grint’s casting arrives as the franchise also reenters public view with an HBO adaptation and other stage and screen activity.
