Overview
- An RTI response shared by Vahan Warta disclosed ARAI-certified mileage for the Sierra at 13.5 kmpl for the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 18.8 kmpl for the 1.5-litre diesel, with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol still uncertified.
- ARAI tests use a standard lab cycle in India, which differs from Tata’s earlier 29.9 kmpl claim from a 12-hour NATRAX track run noted by India Book of Records.
- Interest in the SUV stayed high with more than 70,000 bookings in the first 24 hours and over one lakh overall, and Tata says it has delivered more than 10,000 units.
- Tata builds the Sierra at its Sanand plant alongside the Nexon and plans to lift output to about 15,000 units a month to meet orders.
- An electric Sierra is expected by mid-2026, which would broaden the lineup for buyers weighing fuel costs and charging options.
