Overview
- Gotcha Gotcha Games announced the move on June 11 and has already disabled new registrations, with posting set to be turned off on June 18 and the forum slated for full deletion on December 11, 2026.
- The company’s closure FAQ says there are no plans to preserve or publish an archive of the existing forums, which means every post, attachment and private message will be deleted when the site is taken down.
- Community members have formed organized backup efforts on Discord and enlisted r/DataHoarders and other archivists to save high-value threads and downloadable plugins before the read-only date.
- The task is technically large because the forum holds roughly 1.4 million messages and massive subforums such as Legacy Engine support with tens of thousands of threads and hundreds of thousands of posts.
- Losing the forum risks practical harm to creators who rely on shared plugins, scripts and troubleshooting guides and could make future RPG Maker development harder for newcomers and ongoing projects.
