Overview
- Roundabout Theatre Company announced on Thursday, August 20, 2026, that The Heart will play the Laura Pels Theatre in previews from October 8 with an official opening on October 29 and a limited run through December 6.
- The musical is adapted from Maylis de Kerangal’s novel Réparer les vivants and tells the story of a young person’s death and a heart transplant that links two families and a medical team over 24 intense hours.
- Tony winner Christopher Ashley will direct, with a book and additional lyrics by Kait Kerrigan, music and lyrics by Anne and Ian Eisendrath, and choreography by Mandy Moore.
- The announced principal cast includes Heidi Blickenstaff, Joaquina Kalukango, Jason Tam and Lincoln Clauss, with Blickenstaff and Clauss reprising roles from the La Jolla Playhouse world premiere.
- The production team features music supervision and direction by Ian Eisendrath and Wendy Bobbitt Cavett plus designers Robert Brill, Sarafina Bush, Amanda Zieve, Gareth Owen and Lucy Mackinnon, and tickets and production details are now available from Roundabout.
