Round Rock Man Arrested in Austin Credit Union Robbery, Held in Federal Custody

A joint APD–FBI search recovered disguises consistent with surveillance, with much of the stolen cash found at his home.

Overview

  • APD identifies the suspect as 42-year-old Syntedrick Brown, who is now in federal custody on one count of bank robbery.
  • The robbery occurred Jan. 28 at 10:09 a.m. at the Austin Telco Federal Credit Union on Jollyville Road, with about $113,000 taken.
  • Court documents describe an armed entry in disguise, employees ordered to the floor and into a back room, and cash loaded into a trash bag after questions about “funny money” or trackers.
  • Surveillance showed the suspect leaving around 10:16 a.m. and fleeing in a vehicle later determined to be stolen.
  • A Feb. 2 search warrant at Brown’s residence recovered a wig with headband, reflective sunglasses, a hard black mask, a hooded sweatshirt, and a large portion of the stolen cash; the charge carries up to 20 years if convicted.
