Roscosmos Targets February Restart for Baikonur’s Soyuz/Progress Pad

The agency projects a first post-repair launch by late winter 2026 following delivery of all replacement parts.

Overview

  • Roscosmos says the full set of spare components for Site 31’s service cabin has arrived at Baikonur, with 18 trucks delivering the hardware.
  • More than 130 personnel are working in shifts from 8 a.m. to midnight as assembly and priming progress at the launch complex.
  • Testing is planned once the new service cabin is installed, according to the agency’s outlined repair sequence.
  • The damage was discovered after the successful Nov. 27 Soyuz‑2.1a launch that carried two Roscosmos cosmonauts and one NASA astronaut to the ISS.
  • Site 31 is currently the only Baikonur pad configured for crewed Soyuz and cargo Progress flights, and outside experts have warned repairs could take much longer, underscoring schedule risk.
