Rogers and Quebecor Seal 12-Year Sublicense for French-Language NHL Rights

The agreement centralizes national French broadcasts on TVA Sports, expands Montréal Canadiens coverage for francophone viewers, plus folds illico+ and select streaming partners into the delivery mix.

Overview

  • Rogers and Quebecor announced the 12-year sublicensing deal on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, giving Quebecor rights to up to 350 regular-season French-language NHL games per season and exclusive French playoff coverage.
  • Quebecor will air 32 Montréal Canadiens regular-season games on TVA Sports and TVA Sports Direct, an increase of 10 games from the prior arrangement, while RDS and Amazon will split the remaining Canadiens schedule.
  • Amazon Prime Video will stream seven Canadiens regular-season games in French next season and Bell Media’s RDS will carry the other 45 Canadiens regular-season contests.
  • Rogers retained the ability to sub-license after its wider 12-year national NHL rights deal with the league, but the financial terms of the Quebecor–Rogers sublicence have not been disclosed.
  • The deal concentrates French-language NHL production and ad inventory in Quebec, which Quebecor says will keep more hockey-related jobs and ad revenue in the province and shift how francophone fans access games through broadcast and streaming platforms.
