Rocsys Launches M1, an Overhead Robot That Charges Multiple Robotaxis From One Unit

The system targets the depot plug-in bottleneck that slows growing robotaxi fleets.

Overview

  • Rocsys, which unveiled the M1 on Wednesday, introduced what it calls the first hands-free multi-bay charging solution for robotaxi depots.
  • A single rail-mounted unit moves along up to 10 parking bays and uses a robotic arm to locate the port, plug in, charge, and disconnect without staff.
  • The company says the design works across different EV models, charger brands, and connector types, and it frees floor space so teams can clean or inspect vehicles during charging.
  • Rocsys raised a $13 million Series A extension led by Capricorn Partners, bringing total funding to $56 million and supporting pilots now and a broader rollout planned for 2027 across thousands of bays in North America and Europe.
  • Rocsys reports a 99.9% plug-in success rate and up to 75% staff efficiency gains with potential $1.7 million in annual savings at a 50-bay site, and it cites a major robotaxi deal as validation, though the partner and independent at-scale results remain undisclosed; a demo will be shown at ACT Expo in Las Vegas from May 4–6.
