Rockstar Launches Official NoPixel V Closed Beta for GTA V Roleplay

The closed, streamer-only beta signals Rockstar's formal embrace of creator-led roleplay with no announced timeline for public access.

Overview

  • Rockstar announced on Sept. 1 that a closed, invite-only nopixel V beta will begin on Sept. 8 with roughly 439 invited players and watch-only livestreams for the public.
  • The server will be delivered through the Rockstar Games Launcher so players will not need third-party modding tools to access the experience.
  • Rockstar and the NoPixel team say nopixel V is the result of nearly three years of development and adds a reworked character creator, new areas such as the Pixel Hotel & Casino, and a revamp of Cypress Flats.
  • The initial rollout targets prominent streamers and roleplayers and is tied to Twitch Drops running Sept. 8–30 that include GTA$1.5M and a Burger Shot tracksuit cosmetic item for viewers.
  • The move follows Rockstar's acquisition of FiveM-related technology more than three years ago and gives creators formal support and visibility while leaving public release timing and any link to GTA 6 Online unannounced.
