Overview
- The official 26-minute “Extended Look” premiered on Netflix on Thursday, Aug. 27 and appeared on Rockstar’s YouTube six hours later, with Rockstar saying the footage was captured on PlayStation 5.
- The video confirmed key systems shown in prior leaks, including two playable leads (Jason and Lucia) with largely seamless switching, a rebuilt wanted/criminal-profile system that reaches six stars, and developer claims of a much larger map and an about-80-hour single-player story.
- Rockstar and parent Take-Two have pursued legal measures to find the source of the unauthorized clips that began circulating in mid-August under the name Cyberleek, and U.S. judges have approved subpoenas seeking data from platforms such as Microsoft and Discord.
- Security researchers from NordVPN and Surfshark report hundreds of suspicious GTA 6–related domains, fake downloads, cloned piracy pages and phishing sites that mimic Rockstar login flows, and they warn dormant domains could be activated to steal credentials or deliver malware.
- Rockstar has kept the Nov. 19, 2026 release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with no PC or mobile version announced, and the coming weeks will test whether platform subpoenas, takedowns and fan caution can limit the damage from leaks and scams before launch.
