Overview
- Thousands took part in the full and half marathons through Leeds on Sunday in a sold-out tribute to former rugby league star Rob Burrow.
- Organisers say the event has raised £14.1 million since launching in 2023, funding MND research and support alongside partner charities such as Macmillan, Leeds Hospitals Charity and St Gemma’s Hospice.
- The marathon covered a 26.2-mile route that started and finished at Headingley Stadium and passed Woodhouse Moor, Lawnswood, Bramhope, Pool in Wharfedale and Otley.
- City travel was heavily affected with early-morning road closures, widespread bus diversions along the A660 corridor and around Otley, rolling reopenings from about 4:45 pm and final lifting near 6:00 pm.
- Run For All provided live coverage on YouTube, a tracking app for real-time runner locations and extensive on-course safety with medical tents, ambulance teams, hydration stations, marshals and police.
