Roach vs. Zepeda Set for Vacant WBC Lightweight Title on Aug. 1

The fight will name the successor to the WBC belt Stevenson vacated and signal major TV backing from Golden Boy, Top Rank, DAZN and TNT.

The bout is scheduled for Aug. 1 at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas with the vacant WBC 135-pound title on the line and will headline a DAZN/TNT card.
Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank are co-promoting the fight, and the main event will stream on DAZN while airing on TNT and truTV in the U.S.
Lamont Roach (25-1-3, 10 KOs) enters off two high-profile majority draws against Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz and has not lost since 2019, a run that helped secure him this title shot.
William Zepeda (33-1, 27 KOs) comes back from a unanimous-decision loss to Shakur Stevenson in July 2025 and retained the No. 1 position in WBC lightweight rankings, making him the natural contender for the vacant belt.
The winner will become the WBC lightweight champion and likely reshape the division’s title picture, with general tickets for the event going on sale June 5.
