Roach vs. Zepeda Set for Vacant WBC Lightweight Title on Aug. 1

The fight will name the successor to the WBC belt Stevenson vacated and signal major TV backing from Golden Boy, Top Rank, DAZN and TNT.

Overview

  • The bout is scheduled for Aug. 1 at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas with the vacant WBC 135-pound title on the line and will headline a DAZN/TNT card.
  • Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank are co-promoting the fight, and the main event will stream on DAZN while airing on TNT and truTV in the U.S.
  • Lamont Roach (25-1-3, 10 KOs) enters off two high-profile majority draws against Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz and has not lost since 2019, a run that helped secure him this title shot.
  • William Zepeda (33-1, 27 KOs) comes back from a unanimous-decision loss to Shakur Stevenson in July 2025 and retained the No. 1 position in WBC lightweight rankings, making him the natural contender for the vacant belt.
  • The winner will become the WBC lightweight champion and likely reshape the division’s title picture, with general tickets for the event going on sale June 5.
