Overview
- Queensferry lifeboat launched at about 9:18–9:20am on Sunday after reports of a person in difficulty east of Cramond Island.
- The casualty set off around 8am, fell into the sea, climbed back onto the inflatable, and spent nearly 90 minutes in roughly 7°C water.
- Rescuers found the person in normal clothing without a wetsuit or lifejacket, brought them aboard, wrapped them in blankets, and expedited evacuation.
- The lifeboat delivered the casualty to Granton Harbour for handover to Scottish Ambulance Service and coastguard teams, then returned to service at 11:15am.
- RNLI urged the public not to use airbeds at sea and separately reported towing a 40ft yacht to safety in gale-force winds on Loch Ryan after an anchor-line failure.
