Overview
- The RNC launched a free public ticket lottery on Aug. 15 for its Sept. 9–10 midterm convention at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, with winners to be notified on Sept. 4 and given 24 hours to claim tickets.
- Organizers say the arena event will include President Trump, offer some VIP front-row seats to lottery winners, and provide a Victory Plaza outside the arena with food, drinks and entertainment.
- The party is recruiting up to 750 volunteers per day to staff the convention and plans to use the event to coordinate fundraising, advertising and poll-worker efforts for midterm races.
- Multiple outlets have reported possible additional speakers such as Melania Trump, JD Vance, Marco Rubio and Tom Homan, but the RNC has not released an official schedule or confirmed other participants.
- The first-ever national midterm convention is an unusual move for a major party and could shift how Republicans marshal money, messaging and ground operations in the run-up to November while prompting local Democratic counterprogramming in Dallas.
