Overview
- RMT drivers will strike for 24 hours from noon on Tuesday May 19 and again from noon on Thursday May 21.
- TfL expects normal service until mid-morning on strike days, then reduced trains, early finishes, and some station closures if staffing falls short.
- Buses, the DLR, Elizabeth line, Overground and trams will run but are expected to be very busy, so passengers should allow extra time and check live updates.
- The dispute centers on TfL’s offer of an optional four-day, 35-hour pattern, which the RMT says risks fatigue as it pushes for a 32-hour four-day week that TfL calls unaffordable.
- Talks remain stalled after the RMT said TfL broke a promise to hold negotiations, and further 24-hour strikes are planned for June 16–17 and 18–19 if no deal is reached.
