Overview
- Riverside County deputies responded to an attempted kidnapping call in the 25000 block of Sweetgrass Drive and pursued a vehicle that fled instead of stopping.
- The pursuit continued onto the 60 Freeway into Los Angeles County where deputies deployed a spike strip and then used a PIT maneuver after the driver exited at Rosemead Boulevard.
- A Toyota Prius finally stopped near Rosemead Boulevard and Mabel Avenue, deputies smashed the driver’s window, removed and arrested the driver, and the suspect was medically evaluated at the scene.
- Two juveniles were pulled from the back of the Prius, were known to the suspect, were uninjured, and received medical checks at the scene as a precaution.
- Officials have not released the suspect’s identity or any charges yet and say the multi-jurisdictional case is an active investigation while standard pursuit tactics and interagency coordination are being reviewed.
