Ripple Launches Mint Tool and Invests in Notabene to Scale Its Stablecoin

The moves are meant to give regulated banks and exchanges pre-transfer identity checks and simpler minting so institutions can use RLUSD more like traditional payments.

Overview

  • Ripple unveiled Ripple Mint and made a strategic, undisclosed investment in Notabene in announcements dated July 23–24 that link product and compliance paths for RLUSD.
  • Ripple Mint provides a single web console, APIs and webhooks for institutions to mint, redeem, reconcile and move RLUSD across supported chains.
  • Notabene will add RLUSD to Notabene Flow so institutions can run identity checks, counterparty verification and transaction authorization before transfers.
  • Notabene says its network connects about 2,300 regulated institutions across 100+ jurisdictions and handles more than $2 trillion in annualized transaction volume, though Ripple has not named pilot clients or disclosed the investment terms.
  • RLUSD is issued under a New York trust with monthly reserve attestations and has been bridged to multiple blockchains, but July on‑chain data show rising holders and active addresses alongside an about 25% drop in monthly transfer volume, making sustained institutional flows the key next test.
