Rio’s Elite Municipal Guard to Begin Patrols in Tijuca on April 26

• The Força Municipal will deploy in Tijuca on April 26 with patrols focused between Rua São Francisco Xavier and Praça Afonso Pena.
• The Tijuca rollout opens operations in the North Zone under the new Northern Operations Base.
• Since launching on March 15, the unit has recorded 807 stops, took 215 people to police stations, and filed 116 incident reports.
• The city targets mapped crime hot spots using weekly CompStat reviews, real-time monitoring by the operations center, and body cameras with GPS on every agent.
