Rio Regulates Rio Rotativo Digital to Replace Paper Parking Tickets

Overview

• The city published a decree on Tuesday that formally creates the Rio Rotativo Digital and requires on‑street rotating parking payments to be made exclusively through the Jaé app.
• A pilot will begin on Friday, July 17, in the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas area covering 667 marked spaces along Avenidas Borges de Medeiros and Epitácio Pessoa.
• The tariff stays at R$2 for up to two hours, renewable twice for a six‑hour maximum, parking will operate daily from 7:00 to 23:00, and drivers may regularize payment within eight hours subject to a 100% surcharge or face fines and vehicle removal under the Traffic Code.
