Ring-Doorbell Harasser Sentenced After Stephen Warnock Helps Police Make Arrest

A suspended term with a five-year restraining order followed a case built on home camera footage.

Overview

  • Andrew Mulhearn pleaded guilty at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court to two counts of harassment and received 12 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months, plus 25 rehabilitation days, 200 hours of unpaid work and a five-year restraining order.
  • The harassment targeted two women at homes on the same Mossley Hill street, where Ring doorbell videos showed a man returning late at night and peering through their front window over several weeks starting in July 2025.
  • Former Liverpool and England defender Stephen Warnock, whose fiancée is the sister of one victim, staked out the address, followed the suspect for about 40 minutes and helped officers identify him after a 999 call drew an unmarked police car to the scene.
  • Mulhearn first denied wrongdoing and claimed he was only checking if someone was home to use the toilet before later admitting the offences in court.
  • Warnock said he acted out of concern for women’s safety and limited police time, and the outcome shows how doorbell cameras and quick civilian reporting can speed arrests and secure protective court orders.
