Revolut to Open First Retail Store in Barcelona

The Barcelona flagship signals a wider Spain push focused on Catalan access, ATM growth, hiring.

Overview

  • Revolut said it will launch a large Revolut Store near Plaça Catalunya in late 2026 or early 2027, which will not be a bank branch because it operates in Spain under a Lithuanian EU license.
  • The store will offer face-to-face advice and brand experiences while customers complete sign-ups and services on their phones, and it is expected to employ about 20 people.
  • Catalan now appears by default on Revolut ATMs in Catalonia, and the regional government says the app and website are slated to launch in Catalan in the first half of 2027.
  • Revolut reports about 96 ATMs across Spain and targets roughly 200 by year-end, with around 60 already installed in Barcelona.
  • The company plans to add about 300 roles to its Barcelona innovation hub by 2028 and expand its Madrid headcount, reflecting Spain’s status as a top market with millions of customers.
