Overview
- Revolut began offering EURR to selected customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal through its app and Revolut X on Wednesday as a live euro-pegged stablecoin distributed by Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd.
- Luxembourg-based Bridge Building S.A., owned by Stripe, is the regulated legal issuer and holds electronic-money and crypto-asset licenses from the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier.
- Bridge’s public reserve dashboard shows just 374 EURR tokens backed by EUR 374 in cash, a vanishingly small circulating supply compared with established euro tokens such as Circle’s EURC.
- EURR currently runs on Ethereum and Polygon, allows holders to redeem at par to an EEA bank account subject to compliance checks, and the issuer can freeze addresses or use recovery tools such as temporary redemption limits under stress.
- The launch gives Revolut a euro-denominated on-chain payment option but wider use will hinge on Bridge’s forthcoming CSSF filings, added liquidity and expansion across the EEA against larger incumbent euro stablecoins.
