Revanth Reddy Inaugurates Restored Old Assembly Ahead of Council’s Shift on March 16

A public–private conservation effort with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture revived the Indo-Saracenic landmark with modern facilities.

Overview

  • Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday opened the renovated Nizam-era assembly hall in Hyderabad, which will house the Legislative Council from the Budget session starting March 16.
  • The state-led restoration took 18 months at an estimated cost of ₹30 crore in collaboration with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture.
  • The project upgraded drainage, premium flooring and electrical systems while adding contemporary infrastructure.
  • The refurbished complex provides chambers for the Chief Minister and the Council’s presiding officers, offices for secretariat staff and a modern media hall.
  • The shift will place both the Assembly and the Council on the same campus for the first time in Telangana and previously united Andhra Pradesh, and the government plans to use nearby Jubilee Hall for official programmes.
