Retailers Temporarily Cut Price on Switch 2 Ocarina of Time Remake Pre-Order

A brief $10 pre-order discount on the limited textured-foil physical edition suggests short-lived retailer promotions and tight initial supply.

Overview

  • Nintendo opened pre-orders after its Sept. 7 Zelda 40th Direct and the Ocarina of Time remake is scheduled to launch for the Switch 2 on November 5.
  • On Friday Amazon and Walmart listed the textured-foil physical pre-order at about $59.88–$60, roughly $10 below the $69.99 MSRP.
  • The textured-foil edition is a limited first-run item that has already sold out at some retailers, so the current discount may end quickly once initial stock is claimed.
  • Early demand also drove rapid sellouts and spotty restocks for Zelda-themed Switch 2 consoles and accessories, which has pushed buyers to track retailer pages and the Nintendo Store app.
  • Nintendo describes the remake as a full rebuild for Switch 2 with new textures, updated jump and camera systems, and use of the console’s built-in microphone, and it is being promoted as the centerpiece of the company’s 40th-anniversary slate.
