Respawn to End Apex Legends Support on Original Switch on August 4, 2026

Respawn says the shift targets a higher-quality experience on newer hardware, with players’ progress and purchases preserved through EA account linking.

Overview

  • Season 29 will be the final update on the original Switch, and the game becomes unplayable there at the start of Season 30 on August 4, 2026.
  • Players on the original Switch can continue to play until the cutoff, when server access and new purchases on that version cease.
  • Apex Legends will continue on Nintendo Switch 2 as well as PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
  • Progress, cosmetics and purchases tied to EA accounts persist across platforms, and reports note Apex Coins balances will carry to Switch 2 but not to non-Nintendo systems.
  • Apex Legends launched on Switch in 2021, and Respawn communicated the end-of-support timeline in a post on X from the official @PlayApex account.
