Reshona Landfair Names Herself as R. Kelly ‘Jane Doe,’ Releases Memoir

She frames the book as a bid to reclaim her identity after years of grooming and abuse.

Overview

  • Landfair’s memoir, Who’s Watching Shorty?, is out Feb. 3 through Legacy Lit, following her first major interviews, including a TV appearance on CBS Mornings.
  • She confirms she was the 14-year-old in the tape that spurred early charges, did not testify in Kelly’s 2008 trial, and later testified in his 2022 federal case.
  • Kelly is serving a 30-year New York sentence and a consecutive 20-year Chicago sentence after 2021–2022 federal convictions for racketeering, sex crimes, and child pornography.
  • Kelly’s attorney said he had not received an advance copy and offered no refutation, adding that Kelly wishes Landfair “success and peace.”
  • Landfair mentors girls through Project Refine and describes hearing Kelly’s music in Chicago as retraumatizing, positioning her book as part of her healing and advocacy.
