Report Links Castro’s 2025 Libertadores Trip to Plane Managed by Firm Tied to Vorcaro

The link raises scrutiny of billion-real state investments at Banco Master now before the Supreme Court.

Overview

  • National reports published Saturday say Cláudio Castro flew to the Peru final on November 28th, 2025 in a jet managed by Prime Aviation, which federal police link to banker Daniel Vorcaro.
  • Castro denies any tie between the trip and state investments, says the aircraft was arranged by his lawyer Willer Tomaz, and says he does not know Prime partner Arthur Martins de Figueiredo.
  • During Castro’s administration, RioPrevidência placed about R$1 billion and Cedae about R$200 million in Banco Master despite internal risk warnings, and RioPrevidência’s then president is now jailed.
  • Federal police say messages from Arthur’s phone seized in August 2025 showed Vorcaro as the ultimate beneficiary of his moves, and investigators have sent the material to the Supreme Court under Justice André Mendonça.
  • Vorcaro has been jailed since March in the third phase of Operation Compliance Zero over alleged fraud, money laundering, obstruction, and illegal monitoring of journalists and officials.
