REO Rules Out Sudden MSW Tariff Hikes, Sets Next Adjustment for July 1, 2026

The state operator says any changes are bound by government-set regional caps.

Overview

  • REO denied claims of massive near-term increases in municipal solid waste fees and said the next revision is scheduled for July 1, 2026 with growth roughly in line with consumer prices.
  • Officials said abrupt jumps are impossible because waste-collection charges are limited by maximum indices set by the federal government.
  • REO noted the 2025 adjustment took effect on July 1 and no additional increase is planned this year.
  • The agency cited regional caps that govern overall utility bills, giving examples such as 8.8% in the Republic of Altai, 9.6% in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, and 10.7% in the Astrakhan Region.
  • After a warning from the Federal Antimonopoly Service, REO launched an internal review and cautioned staff about public statements, while FAS separately said it will police compliance on utility tariffs and pointed to subsidy support for households facing high bills.
