Overview
- Reniec launched a free megacampaign in Chancay on Saturday providing first-time DNIs, renewals, image updates, birth registrations and free photos from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., prioritizing minors, adults 60+, people in poverty with SISFOH proof and adult organ-donor registrants.
- The registry activated more than 160 service points across Lima and the regions on May 30–31 to speed delivery and processing of DNIs so citizens have identification ahead of the June 7 presidential runoff.
- Reniec and the Ministry of Housing held a tramitatón to help ministry staff obtain the electronic DNI and meet digital compliance requirements such as the Declaration of Interests.
- The agency completed technical sessions with 180 municipal authorities and the May 29 deadline for municipalities to submit observations has passed, with Reniec set to evaluate and process rectifications through June 9 before finalizing the municipal-centered electoral rolls.
- Under Law No. 28440 Reniec is building a single, technical padron using RUIPN, Renamu, historical electoral records and georeferenced domiciles to reduce duplicate registrations and the so-called 'voto golondrino,' a database that currently lists 3,241,744 eligible voters across 3,212 local pads for the November 1 municipal center elections.
