RENIEC Extends Hours and Expands Self-Service Modules to Speed DNI Updates Before April Vote

The push seeks to clear thousands of overdue document changes so eligible voters can cast ballots on April 12.

Overview

  • RENIEC is urging adults who still hold the yellow minor DNI to update their document, extending service from 6:15 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. throughout February at offices in Miraflores, Independencia, Jesús María and Cañete.
  • The Miraflores agency is operating 24 hours, and RENIEC previously reported 103,827 adults had not renewed their yellow DNI as of the electoral roll cutoff on December 14, 2025.
  • Twenty-one automated self-service modules now operate in Lima and regions such as Chimbote and Ica, with sites including Jockey Plaza, Mallplaza Angamos, Mall del Sur and Plaza Lima Sur, using biometric fingerprint validation and accepting payments via Yape, Pagalo.pe and bank cards.
  • The agents process key tasks including printing certified civil records, resetting or unlocking the DNIe PIN, updating civil status from single to married when the record is in RENIEC’s database, and requesting a duplicate DNI.
  • Existing DNIe holders can request duplicates online for S/33 for adults and S/16 for minors, with strictly personal, biometric pickup required, while procedures for minors must be done in person with a parent or legal guardian.
