Renfe Restarts Summer Trenes Playeros Linking Castilla y León to Cantabrian Beaches

The seasonal service offers same‑day return trips to seaside destinations to encourage rail travel.

Overview

  • Renfe has relaunched its Trenes Playeros for July and August, connecting León, Valladolid, Palencia and Miranda de Ebro with Gijón, Santander and San Sebastián to enable day trips without cars.
  • The León–Gijón service runs daily with a morning departure from León and an evening return from Gijón, giving passengers a full day on the coast.
  • The Valladolid/Palencia–Santander service runs on weekends and holidays, but Renfe will substitute bus links on specific published dates because Adif is carrying out infrastructure works.
  • The Miranda de EbroSan Sebastián train operates daily but will be partly replaced by road transport on several defined date ranges while Adif upgrades track segments between Araia, Andoain and San Sebastián.
  • Tickets are already on sale through Renfe’s official channels and the operator says destination stations offer easy pedestrian access to nearby beaches, though passengers should check published substitution dates before travelling.
