Overview
- Palm Beach County deputies arrested Perez, 38, in Miami on March 10 and charged him with first-degree murder with a deadly weapon and tampering with physical evidence in the death of 35-year-old Linda Campitelli.
- Investigators say the case draws on WhatsApp exchanges, cellphone and location records, surveillance video, and a photo from the victim’s phone showing a birthday blanket and medical Ultrasorb sheets laid out in her SUV.
- Campitelli was found unresponsive on Oct. 28, 2024, about 50 feet from her still-running Chevrolet Tahoe on Lyons Road, and the medical examiner ruled her death a homicide due to blunt-force trauma to the head and torso with injuries consistent with dragging.
- The affidavit alleges a roughly two-year extramarital relationship between the coworkers and says Perez’s claim that he canceled their meetup was not supported by messages, while surveillance shows him that night discarding an item at Delray Medical Center.
- Detectives also detail efforts to conceal digital traces, including use of a prepaid phone, purchase of a new device weeks later, and the unrecovered older phone, and they continue to seek additional witnesses as the case proceeds.
