Renault Refreshes Master with Roomier Cabin, New EV Options and Bidirectional Charging

The update aims to broaden the van’s appeal for trades, municipal fleets and camper builders by improving ergonomics, adding a 40‑kWh chassis‑cab and enabling V2G-ready bidirectional charging.

Overview

  • Renault announced the light 2026 update on Wednesday, July 8, that reworks the Master’s interior with a slimmer centre console to create about nine centimetres more legroom for the middle-seat passenger.
  • The electric lineup keeps the 87‑kWh pack but switches to a new cell chemistry to improve thermal management and charging speed, and Renault adds a new 40‑kWh chassis‑cab aimed at urban and municipal use.
  • Bidirectional AC charging is now standard with an 11‑kW onboard charger and an optional 22‑kW bidirectional unit, and Renault plans to enable vehicle-to-grid (V2G) compatibility on selected markets by the end of the year.
  • Safety and daily-use upgrades include an A‑pillar interior camera for fatigue and attention warnings, an electric parking brake with Auto‑Hold, adaptive cruise control for EV and automatic models, a keycard for keyless access, and cabin and loadbay 220‑V sockets.
  • Renault expanded its factory 'Converted by Renault' options with new flatbed and tipper builds, a 20 m3 load variant, and a 120 mm wider rear track to simplify motorhome and commercial conversions while final pricing remains unconfirmed.
