Renault Duster Earns Bharat NCAP 5-Star Safety Rating

The result applies to every variant, signaling higher baseline safety in India's midsize SUVs.

Overview

  • Renault India said Monday the new Duster earned a 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP, India's crash-test program, with 30.49/32 for adult protection and 45/49 for child protection.
  • The SUV scored 14.49/16 in the frontal offset test and a full 16/16 in the side impact test, with head and neck protection rated good and the chest and lower legs marked adequate.
  • Child safety performance included full marks in dynamic tests at 24/24 and in child-seat installation at 12/12, helped by ISOFIX mounts on the outer rear seats.
  • The rating covers all trims, which get six airbags, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring and seatbelt reminders as standard, while upper variants add ADAS such as adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking.
  • The Duster joins a growing roster of 5-star cars in India, reported as the 31st model to reach that mark, and it compares well to direct rivals with top child scores and slightly lower adult points than the Kia Seltos and Tata Sierra.
