Overview
- The JioTag 2 was announced by Reliance Jio between Aug. 2 and Aug. 3 and is available on Amazon India at a listed price of Rs. 1,249 with typical bank offers reducing the effective cost to about Rs. 1,199.
- The key new feature is cross-platform support that lets the same tag use Google’s Find Hub network on Android and Apple’s Find My network on iOS to report approximate locations via nearby phones.
- Jio says the device uses Bluetooth Low Energy beaconing and crowd-sourced location reporting so it does not need a SIM card or active mobile data plan to share location updates.
- Hardware highlights include a 120 dB speaker for nearby ringing, an IP64 dust and splash resistance rating, a replaceable CR2032 battery claimed to last about one year plus a spare in the box, and no ultra-wideband (UWB) for precise directional finding.
- Early listings show minor naming and colour inconsistencies and Jio’s own sales pages had not been updated at launch, which may cause short-term confusion for buyers comparing Amazon listings with Jio’s catalogue.
