Police say the attack grew from a family dispute and they have filed attempt-to-murder and Arms Act charges while a manhunt continues.

  • Kolkata Police have identified the alleged shooter as Kartik Sonakar, also known as 'Khargosh', and say the attacker and victim are relatives linked by a family dispute.
  • A formal FIR was registered at North Port police station under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including attempted murder, and under the Arms Act, 1959.
  • Investigators carried out raids, are reviewing CCTV from the area, and have been questioning witnesses as the accused and any associates remained at large through Sunday evening.
