Overview
- ASO named Reims as the 2028 Tour de France Grand Départ host during a Monday announcement in the city.
- The 115th edition will start on June 24 and finish on July 16 in Paris because the schedule moves up for the Los Angeles Olympics.
- The first four stages will run across the Grand Est, linking Charleville-Mézières, Épernay, Metz, Thionville, Verdun, and Reims, with precise start and finish towns to be revealed in autumn 2027.
- Tour director Christian Prudhomme said the opening terrain will echo Épernay 2019 to force overall contenders to race each other from day one.
- Luxembourg lost out on hosting the start but will receive a notable passage during the race, which Prudhomme proposed in recognition of the country’s Tour heritage.
