Overview
- Police say a man first was reported peering into a home and making sexual remarks and later forced entry on the 2700 block of Mohawk Street on Friday night, preventing residents from leaving by repeatedly closing the front door.
- A resident briefly pinned the suspect before he fled and officers later found and arrested Edward Carver, 36, hiding in bushes on Yuma Street after a multi-officer search.
- Carver was booked on allegations including burglary, false imprisonment and peeking while loitering, is being held on a parole violation, and bail was set at $250,000.
- Public records on the California Megan’s Law website show Carver was convicted in 2024 of assaulting a minor with intent to rape, was released in 2026, and has risk scores described as “above average” and “high.”
- The Santa Rosa Police Department said the disclosure was necessary for public safety, asked anyone with tips or similar encounters to call 707-528-5222, and referred the case to detectives for ongoing follow-up with a court appearance set for Monday at 1:30 p.m.
