Overview
- The Nijmeegse Vierdaagse organisation disclosed on Monday that a record 3,915 registered participants have transferred or cancelled their start tickets for the 21–24 July event.
- Participants could transfer their start tickets through the organiser’s website until the deadline on Friday at 17:00, after which the online reallocation window closed.
- More than 11,000 people remain on the event waitlist without start tickets while the Vierdaagse will proceed with over 45,000 confirmed walkers covering 30, 40 or 50 kilometres per day.
- Marsleider Henny Sackers said organisers welcome the strong interest but understand the disappointment for those who could not be placed, as rising transfers have increased pressure on allocation procedures.
- The number of non-starters has grown year on year from 2,355 in 2024 and 3,384 in 2025 to this record figure, a trend that complicates planning and could prompt changes to how unused places are reassigned in future years.
