Overview
- Progressief Nederland, the new national name for the GroenLinks–PvdA merger, registers 24 seats in an EenVandaag/Verian poll, the only party above 20, with D66 on 20, VVD on 19 and PVV on 18.
- The poll shows the governing parties D66, VVD and CDA dropping to a combined 56 seats, which is 10 fewer than at the election, with many former D66 voters moving to the new left bloc.
- Dozens of municipal groups that already use 'Pro' say the national abbreviation will confuse voters, with Pro Krimpenerwaard and Pro Kaag en Braassem preparing filings to the Electoral Council.
- The Electoral Council, which rules on party names and ballot labels, may be asked to decide the clash as the national party urges local talks and says only a small number of towns are affected.
- Among past GroenLinks–PvdA voters, 89% back the merger, though some find the 'PRO' label unclear and one in five prefers a new leader even as Jesse Klaver remains acceptable to most.
