- Family and the Federation of Seafarers’ Unions of India ordered a second post-mortem after the body returned to Deoria without an accompanying autopsy report from Venezuela.
- The Deoria post-mortem, accessed by multiple outlets, recorded that the brain, heart, both lungs, liver, kidneys, spleen, pancreas, stomach, intestines and several other structures were missing.
- Doctors documented long stitched incisions from neck to pubic region plus stitching across the head and said the remains had been kept in a deep freeze for nearly a month, which prevented standard forensic analysis.
- An Embassy of India certification that cited acute myocardial infarction as the cause of death is disputed by the Indian re-autopsy, which concluded the cause cannot be determined without viscera.
